Spring is right around the corner, and that means lots of good things: sunshine, daffodils, and KOSC Spring Break Camp!

This year, Spring Break Camp will take place March 19 through 23. Please check out the attached calendar to see where we will be going and what we will be doing! We are excited about the activities our leaders have planned this year, and we are looking forward to a super-fun week for your kids!

Please note that we will begin registration for Spring Break Camp on Monday, February 13 at 7:00 am. We are unable to register any children before this date.

Important Dates 2012

KOSC is open today for both before school and after school care, as classes are in session.

We do ask that parents with children in After School Care pick up their children as early as possible today, so staff can make it home safely before the roads ice over too much.

Sorry for the delay in posting. Our internet has been down since last night.

Due to the risk of staff travelling during dangerous weather conditions this morning, and the cancellation of classes in School District 63, Keating Out of School care will not be in operation today, January 18th.

Please check the school district website tomorrow morning after 6:30 am, or tune into your local radio stations to determine if KOSC will be in operation tomorrow. If classes are cancelled again, KOSC will be closed.

If classes are opened, but current road conditions are deemed to dangerous for staff travel, KOSC reserves the right to cancel AM and/or PM care for that day. Hopefully this won’t be an issue. Please call to check our voicemail 250-652-5546 at around 6:45am Thursday morning for further details, or check this post online at around the same time.

Again,apologies for the inconvenience and we hope that everyone gets at least a few minutes out there to enjoy the snow!

Well, 2012 has officially begun – and before you know it Spring Break, September registration, and Summer 2012 registration will begin. Please take the time to check our events calendar page, which has all the important dates from now until June listed.

With Halloween gone, Christmas is right around the corner. KOSC staff have again created another exciting Christmas Program for your kids over the Break. Please click on the link below, or you can access the calendar under the “Our Programs” tab.

Christmas Camp Calendar 2011

Registration starts Monday morning, Nov. 7th, so please, refrain from sending emails or calling requesting dates before then as we will not be able to accept them.

Cancellations for Christmas Camp must be done by Friday, Dec. 2nd, or full fees will be charged.

For those of you registered, our tour begins at 10:00, which means we’re getting picked up by the bus here at 9:20. As we like to have the kids eat a small snack before we leave, a drop off time of 8:30 or earlier would be greatly appreciated.

And yes, it is October, and yes, we will be outside for a large portion of the day so please ensure that your child comes with weather-appropriate clothing – which in October could mean just about anything…

Anyways, I hope your children are looking forward to our trip as much as the staff are!

I just wanted to send a quick shout out to Markus, and wish him best of luck in his new career path.  I know all of you are hoping that the next time you get pulled over, Officer Anastasiades will be the one asking for your license and registration…

I’d also like this opportunity to introduce myself to those families who may not know me, and also recap my few years away for those parents who may be wondering – I started here as a child care supervisor in 2004 while going to University.  After graduation, I had the privilege to fill in for Krista during her first maternity leave in 2008, and then decided to try and put my film degree to some use upon her return.  Suffice it to say, the movie industry (at least in Victoria) is far from glamorous.

I’ve spent the past year running the Out of School Care program for the YMCA-YWCA of Greater Victoria in Vic West, but when the opportunity to return to KOSC presented itself, I can honestly say it felt like coming home.

I ask for your patience in learning (or re-learning) all your names and those of your children.  It is quite a task to come back after a few years and realize that there are over 100 new families to meet, and not only that but to know what days they come and what room they’re can be a bit of a mind boggle.  So if I introduce myself to you twice (or maybe even three times), please don’t be offended

I’ll just sign off by saying that please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions or concerns.  From the amount of hugs and doughnut coupons Markus got yesterday, I know I have some very big shoes to fill (or are they shiny black combat boots?)

KOSC will be open at 7:00am for all children registered for morning care. We will walk the children up to the school at 8:40 for their first day, and then pick-up all children registered for after-school care. Don’t worry, we’ll have our lists and be out on the playground directing the kids to their appropriate rooms.
